Weekly Mowing
Weekly Lawn Mowing in Virginia Beach
Mowing is the service you see every week, so it's the one that tells you the most about a lawn company. A good cut isn't just short grass. It's a straight edge along the driveway, trimmed grass around the fence posts, no clippings blown into the flower bed, and a walkway you could walk barefoot on afterward.
Our weekly visit includes all of it. Mowing, trimming, edging and blowing are one service at LOMAR, done on every visit, from the first spring cut through the end of the growing season.
Weekly mowing starts from $66 per visit on the Essential plan, or as Month-to-Month service during the growing season. Your exact estimate depends on lawn size.
What happens on every weekly visit
- Grass cut at the right height for your grass type and the season
- Mowing pattern alternated so the lawn doesn't rut or lean
- String trimming around beds, trees, fences, posts and the house
- Hard edging along driveways, sidewalks and curbs every visit
- Discharge-chute blockers on every mower so clippings stay out of mulch, pools and AC units
- All hard surfaces blown clean, and gates closed behind us
- A completion confirmation after the visit
Why weekly, and why edging every time
During peak season in Virginia Beach, fescue and bermuda can grow an inch or more a week. Cutting every other week means taking off too much at once, which stresses the grass, leaves heavy clippings on top of the lawn and makes the yard look rough for half the cycle. Weekly service keeps each cut light and the lawn looking finished all the time.
Edging is where a lot of companies quietly cut corners. Some only edge every other visit, some charge for it separately, and some skip it when they're behind. We treat it as part of the cut. A crisp line along concrete is what makes a mowed lawn look maintained, and once grass starts creeping over a sidewalk it takes real work to win that line back.
The discharge-chute blockers matter more than people expect. Clippings blown into beds carry seed heads that sprout in the mulch, and clippings blown into a pool or onto an outdoor AC condenser create a cleanup job you didn't ask for.

Mowing height is raised for summer heat and adjusted again in fall as growth slows.
Mowing through a Virginia Beach season
Our mowing season generally runs March through November. Fescue lawns wake up first and grow hard through April and May, then slow down in the July and August heat — that's when we raise the deck and avoid scalping a lawn that's already struggling. Bermuda and zoysia hit their stride in summer and taper off after the first cool nights in October.
Summer here also means afternoon thunderstorms and the occasional tropical system. A lawn that's been soaked doesn't get mowed the next morning just to stay on schedule; running mowers across saturated sandy soil leaves ruts that last for months. We'll shift the visit and tell you why.
We currently run residential mowing routes in 23451 and 23454. Lots in those areas range from compact oceanfront parcels to large wooded properties near Great Neck and Linkhorn Bay, and our estimate is based on your actual measured lawn, not a flat rate for the neighborhood.
Common questions
- Do you bag clippings?
- Normally no. Light weekly clippings mulch back into the lawn. If growth gets heavy after a long rain delay, we'll clean up clumps so they don't smother the grass.
- Is edging really included every time?
- Yes. Edging driveways, walks and curbs is part of every weekly visit on every plan.
- What if it rains on my service day?
- We move the visit to the next workable day. Mowing wet, soft ground damages the lawn, so we won't do it just to keep the calendar.
- Can I get mowing without an annual plan?
- Yes. Month-to-Month provides Essential-level weekly service during the growing season with no annual commitment.
