Beds that had been completely cleared back to bare soil. We hauled away the roots and debris, set new shrubs and ornamental plantings, re-cut the bed edges and finished with fresh hardwood mulch.
About this project
This refresh started with beds that had grown out of control — the old plant material was stripped back to bare soil, and what you see in the before photo is the groundwork: piles of roots and debris cleared from the bed along the property's brick wall.
Everything that came out of the beds was hauled away. New shrubs and ornamental plantings went in to fill out the beds, and the edge line was re-cut with a trenching shovel so it will hold.
Fresh hardwood mulch finished the job at a proper depth — enough to hold moisture and suppress new weeds, without burying plant crowns. The beds are now maintained on the property's regular visits.
